Google Music Opens Doors to It’s New Cloud Service

Google MusicGoogle has been teasing us for awhile now with their ‘google music’ service that will rival other similar services such as amazon and itunes.

The event is expected to bring the launch of Google’s online music download store, the latest such digital storefront from the search giant. Google already operates a digital store for books, as well as for software applications on both its Android and Chrome platforms. – CNET

Although it does seem to have some limitation compared to the other major players at the moment, I have no doubt that google will pull it together once again with their cloud music service. I’ve already been playing around with the google music beta version for the past week, and I must say that it has a MUCH better interface than the others I’ve tested. I think that’s what it’s going to come down to at the end of the day – how easy will it be to navigate my music collection while I’m on the go? When I’m on my phone, I want something that’s intuitive and simple to use. Save all the more detailed organization functions for when I’m on my computer…

Google has also managed to grab hold of most of the major record labels to sell songs in a similar fashion to the ever popular iTunes store:

Alongside the formal launch of that service, Google is expected to unveil deals with most of the big record companies to sell digital music downloads from those catalogs. Purchased tracks can then be accessed from both the Web and on mobile devices, including those running Google’s Android operating system. - CNET

Apparently google has had trouble reaching an agreement with Warner Music, so it will have to launch without the ability to sell music from their label. I have a very confident feeling that as google music becomes ever more popular (and it will) Warner will come around to some type of agreement.
